Youth is the spring of Life.

In the developed countries, much attention has been given towards youth development.

The role of youth cannot be overlooked in Malaysia. In Malaysia young people form a crucial demography.

According to Department of Statistic, Malaysia, in 2010, 42.5% (12.015 million) of population falls under the age of 15 to 39 years.

This vast energetic population can be precious asset for the country if they are given opportunity to actualize their potentials and capabilities.

In this regard as nation, we need serious reflection and conscious efforts to nurture and transform the potentialities of the huge number of young people.

It is important to realize that every youth has the potential and capacity to contribute in the development of the country.

However, they need opportunity to nurture their potentials and skills.

To actualize youth’s potential and skills they need a quality education.

It should provide them opportunity to develop their various skills such as thinking, literacy, social and so on.

The educational activities should facilitate them to develop a positive attitude towards the people of the society and the environment where they live.

The educated and skilled youth need appropriate job opportunity and conducive work environment in order to utilize their capacity at maximum level.

They need encouragement and facilitation from the organization where they serve. They require empowerment and space to use their creativity and innovation.

What we see today, not only in Malaysia, but the world over – the educated youth, who are to be the future of this country and future of the world at large, are crooked on infusing and developing negative characteristics and behaviour, opposite to what is expected as products of a university.

How can such youth, contribute to National Development?  It could only be a foundation for National Destruction.

Youth must be responsible for benefiting their youthfulness. They must help in the development and provide services through giving a helping hand to fellow men to build a nation of peace, harmony, security and tranquillity.

The youth energy, intelligence and resources of youth that are fully and properly utilized, the country will prosper.

Young people are full of vibrant ideas. Young people have energy to try out things and the patience to learn from mistakes.

Giving them opportunities to plan, to decide and to work prepares them to face harsher realities in life.

Young participation is important because youth are the country’s power. Youth recognize problems and can solve them.

Youth are strong forces in social movements. They educate children about their rights. They help other young people attain a higher level of Intellectual ability and to become qualified adults.

A nation will add a feather to its cap and process of its development will continue if its ambitious, agile and strong youths are guided on the right direction.

The youths of a nation are powerful. They are agile and are inclined to work. They apply themselves to work.

Can we ignore the role of youths in building a nation?

If not, how can they help in this work? How should they divert their energy to this work? How should they act in right direction?
